My Training and Professional Background
As a
California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with a Masters
Degree in Clinical Psychology, I am trained to work with all aspects of
interpersonal relationships. I have a private practice in Berkeley, California, with a clinical specialty in working with relationship issues, doing psychotherapy with couples and individuals.
I have studied clinical hypnosis, and done extensive training in sex therapy. I have studied with some of the leaders in the couples/marital therapy field, including training for seven years with Drs. Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson at the Couples Institute in Menlo Park, CA. I have also studied with Dr. David Schnarch, including taking the Passionate Marriage Training, and his advanced trainings in Sexual Desire and Sexual Dysfunction. For the past 10 years, I have been in ongoing training and consultation in the treatment of distressed couples, with Dr. James Maddock, and Dr. Noel Larson of The University of Minnesota and Meta Resources, in St. Paul, MN.
In my nearly 30 years of clinical practice, in addition to treating many hundreds of couples, I have been a guest lecturer on marriage and sexuality, run couples groups and have made numerous radio appearances. I also offer case consultation to therapists in their work with the challenging couples they treat.
